___ Step 1:
Make sure that your kit contains the following:

  • Four RCA connectors
  • Four red heat shrink pieces
  • Silver solder
  • 2 lengths of wire

Contents of your kit. (Silver solder not shown)

___ Step 2:
Separate the two twisted wires about 2 inches down on each end as shown in the photo below.

___ Step 3:
There are two colors of wire that you un-twisted. These colors can change from kit to kit depending on when we put your kit together. It does not matter what color of wire you use for the connections, just be consistent throughout while constructing your kit. For this instance, we will use the wires in the photos, green and gray. We will make the green wire the "hot" and the gray wire the "ground".

You will now need to strip the insulation off the wires you have separated. We want to strip about a 1/2 inch off the gray wire and 1/4 inch off the green wire. You can use a box knife, hobby knife, wire stripper or even your soldering iorn to melt the insulation and then pull it off.

When using a knife, score around the wire and then pull off the insulation. It might take you a few tries. Don't fret if you break the wire, loosing an inch or so off your cable. Simply try again till you are able to do it correctly. Make sure the ends are the same length once completed.

___ Step 3:
Unscrew the body of the RCA connector by grasping the center pin and unscrewing. Thread one end of the wire through the outer body and a red heat shrink as shown in the photo below. Be sure that the body is also situated in the correct direction.

Feed the wire through the RCA body and heat shrink as shown.

___ Step 4:
Take the connector end of the RCA and fix in a bench vise as shown below. Take the wire that you threaded through the above and solder the green wire to the center conductor.

Green wire is soldered to the center conductor as shown.

___ Step 5:
Feed the black wire through the hole, bend it flat and solder as shown below.

Black wire inserted in hole and bent flat.

Black wire soldered in.

___ Step 6
Take your needle nose pliers and bend the end clamp closed enough so that the red heat shrink can slip over it as shown below.

Wire clamp bent to allow heat shrink to slip over it.

___ Step 7
Bring up and slip the heat shrink over the wire clamp and shrink with your heat gun as shown below.

If you ordered Eichmann connectors...

___ Step 8
Bring up and screw on the outer body. Do all of the above steps for the remaining and you are all done!
