___ Step 1:
Make sure that your kit contains the following:
Four WBT style RCA connectors
Four black heat shrink pieces
Several black heat shrink pieces
Silver solder
Lengths of wire bundled into 2 sets of 3
Contents of your kit. (Silver solder not shown)
___ Step 2:
You will find in your kit two bundles of wires. Each one has 3 cables that are held together with a piece of heat shrink attached on one end. Add some of the other black heat shrink pieces in your kit every 6 inches from the one that is already there. As you do each one, shrink it down with your heat gun as shown below. You will do this till you reach the end of the cable, leaving about 2 inches from the end. You can add a piece of heat shrink if needed on the end.
___ Step 3:
Looking at the end of the cable, you will see 3 sets of twisted pairs. Un-twist these about 1.5 inches down as shown below.
Un-twist all the wires on the end about 1.5 inches down.
___ Step 4:
There are two colors of wire that you un-twisted. These colors can change from kit to kit depending on when we put your kit together. It does not matter what color of wire you use for the hot and ground connections, just be consistent while constructing your kit. For this instance, we will use the wires in the photos, brown and black. We will make the brown wire the "hot" and the black wire the "ground".
You will now need to strip the insulation off the wires you have separated. We want to strip about a 1/2 inch off the black wire and 1/4 inch off the brown wire. You can use a box knife, hobby knife, wire stripper or even your soldering iorn to melt the insulation and then pull it off.
When using a knife, score around the wire and then pull off the insulation. It might take you a few tries. Don't fret if you break the wire, loosing an inch or so off your cable. Simply try again till you are able to do it correctly. Make sure the ends are the same length once completed.
Strip the end off each wire as described.
___ Step 5:
Take the green wires and twist them together and solder them together as shown below. Do the same for the black wires.
Twist and solder the brown wires together. Do the same for the Black.
___ Step 6:
Unscrew the body off the RCA connector and place it in a vise grip as shown below. You will find 3 screws, remove them, leaving the holes. Run the wires through the center and then place them as shown below. The brown wire goes to the center pin and the black to the outer body. Feed these wires through the holes left by the removed screws.
Feed the wires through the body and place them
through the holes left from the removed screws.
___ Step 7:
Solder the wires in as shown below...
Brown wire is soldered to the center conductor, black to body as shown.
___ Step 8:
Slip a large piece of heat shrink over the body and position as shown below.
Heat shrink positioned as shown..
___ Step 9
Shrink the heat shrink with your heat gun. Go all the way around till shrunk and snug.
Heat shrink shrunk and snug. (Say this 5 times real fast!)
___ Step 10
Screw on the outer body from the position shown.
___ Step 11
Do the same now for the other ends and you are all done!
