About Tonewin:
Morrow Audio imports the Tonewin line of products from China where they are manufactured. We are slowly increasing our line of stock for these items to make it more convenient for our customers, to save time in shipping and to experience each product they offer.
The Tonewin products have displayed to us high quality and reliability, as well as a beautiful appearance. In fact, they can put some of the American high end products to shame in this regard. They excel in quality and good sounding products that should be enjoyed while lasting a long time.
With the low labor cost in China, the result is a low price for our customers, providing affordable high end audio. Many of these products, if built in the US would be 2 to 3 times the prices posted on Morrow Audio. Our decision to carry the Tonewin line has resulted in our desire to provide affordable products at different price points.
Of course, if you have the deep pockets necessary, the Morrow Audio line of amplifiers excel over the Tonewin products due to the part selections found in the Morrow Audio line. We use only the best sounding parts in the world, expensive parts at that, but well worth the price! The Morrow Audio products only offer amplifiers in the SET configuration, 10 watts per channel, which may not be enough for those customers who have less efficient speakers, the Tonewin line then comes in filling that lack.
Repair Service For Tonewin Products:
Since we have been in the service industry for 26 years, all Tonewin products are repaired at our location in the same workshop where the Morrow Audio products are constructed. There is no need for our customers to ship their product to China, which can be expensive.
Our Personal Review & Experience:
Because of our desire to carry their product line we started with the Tonewin MC-10L-M Integrated Amplifier in order to put it through or barrage of listening test. We felt that this would give us a good indication as to the quality and sound of their products. Here is our findings:
I was impressed with the quality and safe packing, insuring a save arrival with even the roughest of handling by careless deliver persons.
First, what must be understood is that our system is extremely revealing of any products that have imperfections. Our speakers have no crossovers and we now implement a $10,000.00 Theta CD front end. You can see our listening room and system by clicking here.
I hooked the unit into our system, putting aside the present OTL amplifiers that were presently being used. I slipped a CD in and settled back for a listen.
The first thing I noticed is a little hardness in the midrange and highs. Understanding the break in process I settled back, grabbed an audio magazine and listened. Things started happening after 20 minutes. The hardness began to leave and the tone took on a pleasant impression.
As time went on I found myself listening to the music rather than listening critically. I was being drawn into the music....that was very good! The soundstage was deep and wide with pinpoint imaging. The presentation took on a very natural character. I realized that the Tonewin products would be something enjoyed by our customers.
Update... Sitting here listening to the "Peter Frampton Comes Alive" CD, he is indeed "alive"! I am "in" the concert hall. There is power, the stack of concert speakers can be "seen" on the stage, I feel the aliveness and excitement of the live concert. It is as though I have been transported to the event. The 3-D presence is almost scary real, as I turn off the lights in my listening room, the walls disappear and I am there! I am in the vast concert hall. It can't get any better then this! The emotion and excitement of what one feels at a life concert is NOW in my listening room! Great job Tonewin!
